WPX Headquarters

 WPX Headquarters

Project Details

The new WPX Energy building is a 270,000-square-foot, 13-story corporate headquarters in the vibrant city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Designed to be home to one of the leading energy companies in the region, this state-of-the-art building embodies WPX Energy’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable practices. With its modern design, cutting-edge technology, and employee-centric amenities, the WPX Energy Headquarters promises to be a beacon of progress and a symbol of the company’s dedication to the future.

The project is located in the Historic Greenwood Arts district of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The site is uniquely positioned between two culturally significant parks: the historical John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park, a memorial to those who lost their lives in the 1921 Tulsa Race Riots, and Guthrie Green, a new urban community park and event center. Following the WPX Energy mission to engage with the community the architect sought to create a building that would connect Reconciliation Park to Guthrie Green via a large mid-block breezeway allowing pedestrian passage. A gesture not only meant to physically but symbolically connect the past, present, and future of Tulsa.

The building’s 270,000 square feet have been thoughtfully designed to cater to a diverse range of businesses and activities. Offering flexible floor plates, the headquarters was designed to flex with the needs of an energy company.  Offering multiple full floor plate sizes allows WPX Energy to occupy the entire building or provide leasable space that can accommodate corporate offices, tech startups, research centers, retail spaces, and cultural establishments, creating a vibrant and dynamic environment where creativity and productivity thrive.

The WPX Energy Headquarters exudes a harmonious blend of contemporary architecture and energy-inspired elements. The exterior façade features a sleek and dynamic design, showcasing a combination of high-performance glass, brick, and energy-efficient materials. WPX Energy’s commitment to sustainable construction is evident through the incorporation of green roofing and recycled materials symbolizing their dedication to responsible energy practices.

Upon entering the building, visitors are greeted by a breathtaking grand two-story space bathed in natural light and a brick feature wall constructed of handmade brick harvested from the once beloved Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant that stood on the site.  A reception area exudes an approachable professionalism, featuring an artful combination of natural materials, modern furnishings, and subtle energy-themed accents that pay homage to WPX Energy’s core mission.

Designed with a focus on fostering innovation and teamwork, the WPX Energy Headquarters boasts dynamic and flexible workspaces. Open-concept floor plans promote collaboration among employees, while strategically placed huddle areas and meeting rooms provide ample opportunities for impromptu discussions and brainstorming sessions. Ergonomic furniture and cutting-edge technology ensure maximum comfort and productivity for all occupants.

WPX Energy places a strong emphasis on employee well-being, and this principle is evident in the headquarters’ design. The building offers a well-equipped fitness center, outdoor collaboration spaces, and expansive work areas washed with natural light.

The new headquarters stands tall as an architectural testament to innovation, sustainability, and employee-centric design. With its forward-thinking approach, dedication to the environment, and commitment to employee wellbeing, WPX Energy sets the bar high for corporate excellence and leaves a lasting impact on Tulsa’s corporate landscape.
